UNDERSTANDING THE

BENEFITS
OF WINDOW TINT

Tinting your vehicle comes with an array of benefits besides just looking hot and feeling cool. The technology that goes into our selection of premium window films is industry-leading, offering superior solar performance and long lasting results!

STEP 1:

UNDERSTANDING THE

BENEFITS
OF WINDOW TINT

Tinting your vehicle comes with an array of benefits besides just looking hot and feeling cool. The technology that goes into our selection of premium window films is industry-leading, offering superior solar performance and long lasting results!

HEAT REJECTION

Our window films reject anywhere from 33-71% of total solar heat & up to 98% of IR heat, leaving you with a more temperature controlled interior for comfortable driving.

GLARE REDUCTION

The amount of glare reduced is directly related to how dark your window film is. Our window films block anywhere from 30-96% of unwanted glare.

UV PROTECTION

You can expect no less than 99% of harmful UVA & UVB rays to be completely blocked with any one of our high quality automotive window films.

SECURITY

Tinted windows help to keep your valuables hidden while your vehicle is unattended plus strengthens your glass to make entry through the window more difficult.

PRIVACY

Keep those prying eyes out at all times! Whether your’e at the lights or in the parking lot, tinted windows allow you to go about your business without being glared at.

SAFETY

Tinting your vehicles glass will help to increase the break strength by adding a microscopic layer of high tensile materials, keeping broken glass shards together upon shattering.

PROTECTS INTERIOR

Your vehicles interior is susceptible to breakdown more-so here in Tasman than many other places due to our sunny weather. Tint will eliminate fading & UV damage.

ANTI-AGEING

Our window films are designed with an SPF of up to 1000 to keep you protected, preventing premature skin ageing plus less eye strain for those with cataracts.

ENERGY SAVINGS

High heat rejecting films promote less use of air-con which can save you miles in fuel & battery life (for those electric cars). Air-con is the No.1 drain of your battery in a Tesla.

STYLISH LOOKS

Of course tinting the windows of your vehicle will make it look ten times better. We reckon tinted windows are the best value for money visual upgrade you can get.

STEP 2:

UNDERSTANDING

HOW SOLAR
PERFORMANCE WORKS

If your’e looking to invest in a window film that is guaranteed to perform in the sun, especially over summer then understanding the following is a must, before you part with your hard earned money.

We all know that UV is the the most damaging aspect of the sun, capable of causing serious sunburn & skin damage even when we cant feel it. This is because UV only carries around 3% of the suns heat. So where does the suns heat come from?

The total amount of solar heat comes from these 3 components:

Ultraviolet (UV) = 3%

Visible Light (VL) = 44%

Infrared Radiation (IR) = 53%

The combination of which equals:

Total Solar Energy = 100% of solar heat

A films overall ability to perform is based on how well it rejects Total Solar Energy – all 3 of these components.

In tint terms, this is what we call Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER). So yes, while Infrared Radiation carries the most heat from the sun, and how dark your film is also plays a big part, it is actually the TSER value that gives a true representation of a window films overall ability to reject heat.

Different window film types offer different levels of Infrared Rejection (IRR) & come in different shades (VLT’s), but all good quality auto-films will block a minimum of 99% UVA & UVB rays.

Dyed films only offer a minimal amount of TSER, because while dye does block visible light, its capability of blocking IR heat is very low.

High Performance (dyed/metal hybrid) films have a metallized layer that does a slightly better job of blocking IR, resulting in more TSER.

Nano Ceramic films are the best when it comes to blocking IR, resulting in the highest TSER values. These films are in a class of their own, leveraging heat absorbing ceramic particles that are free of both dye and metal.

Nano-Ceramic automotive window films are designed to not only reject a high amount of infrared heat, but also absorb a high amount too. This means that the heat they can’t reflect outwards gets absorbed into your glass (well, up to 90% of it anyway). This is why nano-ceramic films are different. Dyed films cant really absorb heat, so up to 80% the heat they can’t reflect outwards comes straight into your vehicle.

Generally, infrared rejection & solar energy absorption correlate, meaning the more infrared heat your auto-film rejects, the more heat it absorbs. This means your vehicle’s glass will feel hotter to the touch than it would with no tint or with a standard dyed window film. This is mostly noticeable when your vehicle is stationary. So don’t sweat it, hot glass means your ceramic film is doing its job well!

Yes, this heat absorption can slowly radiate into your vehicle over time, but it takes up to 4x longer than with a standard dyed window film, resulting in a cooler interior for much longer. When your vehicle is in motion however, the cool air over the glass dissipates most of this absorbed heat, meaning your window will be cooler to the touch, equating to even less heat radiating into your vehicle.

So in a nutshell, when it comes to automotive window films, the higher your films TSER, the more total heat will be kept out and the better your films ability to reject IR, the cooler it will be kept for longer.
